The pursuit of well-being and good living is an integral part of human existence. Efforts to articulate how this is achievable can be traced back to the 6th–7th B.C.E., when Homer, Aristotle, Cicero, and Virgil inquired about the means and goals of human nature that would bring people closer to happiness. Informed by the social, political, and economic transformations of their time, they proposed that bravery, conformity to the laws of the city, hard work, honesty, nobility, reason, and participation in the public affairs were values that encapsulated the good life.

Why is peace important to us?
Living in peace is about living harmoniously with yourself, others, and all sentient beings around you. Living in peace is both an outward and an inward process. Outwardly, it's a way of life in which we respect and love each other in spite of our cultural, religious, and political differences.
Peace is a stress-free state of security and calmness that comes when there's no fighting or war, everything coexisting in perfect harmony and freedom. In our war-torn world, it seems like there's not nearly enough peace. However peace can be big and small, seen in entire countries or brief moments.
